2021 Joint General Election 

City of Riesel Council Members are elected during the November election. There are three City Council Member positions expiring in 2021. 

The Council Members with terms expiring in 2021 are:

  • Council Member: Bimbo Shaw
  • Council Member: Bobby Dieterich
  • Council Member: Jeanne Lehrmann

Dates for Filing an Application for a Place on the City of RIESEL General Election Ballot for 2021 has passed for the November 2, 2021 Joint General Election.

Start Date: Saturday, July 17, 2021 
End Date: Monday, August 16, 2021
Applications can be filed with the City Secretary during normal business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Last day to Receive Ballot by Mail: Tuesday, November 2, 2021 (election day) at 7:00 p.m. OR Wednesday, November 3, 2021 (next business day after Election Day) at 5:00 p.m. if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7:00 p.m. at the location of the election on Election Day (unless overseas or military deadlines apply)

City Council Elections

The City of Riesel holds a General Election each November for the purpose of electing City Council persons jointly with McLennan County. (La Ciudad de Riesel tiene una Elección general cada Noviembre para elecciones al Concilio de la Ciudad.)

City of Riesel Council Members are elected to at large positions. Each Council Member represents the entire community.

Texas Eligibility Requirements for Public Office

  • Citizen of the United States
  • 18 years old
  • Have not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment in court
  • No felony convictions
  • Resided in the state continuously for the previous 12 months
  • Must satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for this office


Notice is hereby given that applications for a place on the November 2, 2021
City of Riesel Regular Election ballot may be filed during the following time:

Start Date: July 17, 2021
End Date:   August 16, 2021

Write-in Candidates may apply until August 27th

Applications for a place on the ballot for the Special Election to elect 1 (one) person to fill an unexpired term may be filed during the following time:

Start Date: August 24, 2021

End Date:  September 1, 2021

The City of Riesel will be voting to elect one person for each position to serve the full term of two years for three (3) At-Large council member positions on the City Council of the City of Riesel and a Special Election will be held to elect one (1) at-large position for a one year, unexpired term for Council Member of the City of Riesel.
