City of Riesel Council Members are elected during the November election. Council members are not elected by place, they are elected at large, each representing the entire community.

City of Riesel Council Members are elected during the November election.

There are TWO At-Large City Council Member positions and the Mayor position expiring in 2026.

• Mayor (currently held by Mayor Jennifer Hogg)

• At-Large Council Member (currently held by Kevin Wunderlich)

• At-Large Council Member (currently held by Glenna Sandhoff)

Candidate Qualification Information

To run for City Council, a candidate must file for office within the posted filing period, July 20th through August 17th. 

In addition, see below for qualifications outlined by the State of Texas Election Code.

Texas Eligibility Requirements for Public Office

• Citizen of the United States

• 18 years old

• Have not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment in court

• No felony convictions

• Resided in the state continuously for the previous 12 months

• Must satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for this office

City Council Elections

The City of RIESEL holds a General Election each November for for the purpose of electing City Council persons jointly with McLennan County. (La Ciudad de RIESEL tiene una Elección general cada Noviembre para elecciones al Concilio de la Ciudad.)
